If you've ever asked yourself why parents drag themselves out of bed early on a Sunday morning to get their children to Lok Fu by 9:30, the answer of course is so that the little ones can learn how to play hockey and to improve their skills. However, to really get better at hockey, one needs to take part in competitions, and Hong Kong Kai Tak Mini Hockey Club does just that on a regular basis.

  • On a cool December 8th, 2007, Valley played host to other mini hockey clubs. Kai Tak's Under-8s, featuring a new aggressive breed of youngsters, took the championship in their age group. Not only that, Dicky Lau was named Player of the Tournament. Well done, everyone.

  • KCC held its annual tournament on March 4th, 2007, and our players picked up two medals. The Under-10s "A" and the Under-8s "B" each won bronze.

  • We hosted our annual mini hockey tournament on January 28th, 2007, and a fun time was had by all. Please click here to read about it.

  • On December 3rd, 2006, HKFC hosted their annual event and our little sportsmen and sportswomen once again came away with medals. The Under-10s once again finished runners-up in their age group, while the Under-8s took the bronze medal in their category. Well done, everyone!

  • Earlier in the year, the first tournament of the 06/07 season was hosted by DBIS on October 15th, where our Under-10s took gold in their age group. Last year, they had finished runners-up. Meanwhile, our Under-8s won the silver medal in their age group.

  • Looking further back, KCC hosted its tournament on March 5th, 2006, and our Under-10s came away with the gold medal for that age group while our Under-8s finished 2nd in theirs.

  • The previous year, KCC's event was held on April 17th.

Sunday, April 17th, 2005 was a beautiful day for hockey - not too hot, and with a nice breeze.

Kai Tak entered five teams, one each in the Under 8s and Under 12s, and three teams in the Under 10s. The A team in the Under 10s made it to the Finals where we lost to KCC 0-1. It was a very close game, and very exciting to watch. It was also a lot of fun with the parents of both teams cheering the children on.

Congratulations to Tiffany for winning the Best Player award for the Under 10s age group. Tiffany also scored the sudden-death goal in the semi-final that brought us to the Finals.

We would also like to say a BIG THANK YOU to goalkeeper Jeremy for making a fantastic save in that same semi-final match. Well done! Click here for a few pictures taken at the tournament.

  • Finally, the Hong Kong Hockey Association website carries a story about our 2004 tournament. Click here to read what our former chairman Alex Lai had to say.
